- In Finder, click Go, and choose Connect to Server.
- Under server address put this link: https://cvmdata.vetmed.wsu.edu/
- You can either connect to the server immediately or click the + next to the address bar to add the server as a favorite.
- You will be asked to enter your vetmed username and password. Make sure Registered User is selected and login with your vetmed credentials.
Class of 2022 and Above MUST use their [email protected] credentials
- If more than one server name is shown, connect to the server named cvmdata.
- A new drive will be mapped under Computer. Within it, you will see three folders:
- Private - this folder contains your H drive. You will need to navigate through the file tree, choosing first your department, then your account name, to find it.
- Shared - this is the J drive. Only folders to which you have access will be displayed. To manage shared folder permissions, click here.
- Temporary - this is the K drive. Files placed here will be deleted after 15 days, and are accessible by anyone with a valid vetmed username and password.
For all three drives, you will only see those folders and files for which you have permission to view. If you cannot view a folder or file that you should be able to see, contact Technical Resource Group. Download photos app for mac.
You Can Access Files Through Website Links
- Each department has its own website for its employees' personal files, so locate your department in the left column and click on the link in the right column. You will be able to download the files only.
- The organization within each department is given by that which is in parentheses
- Upon clicking on your link it will ask you to log in.
- Login using your vetmed credentials. You must specify the domain in the username like this:
vetmedusername
note: Class of 2022 and Above MUST use their [email protected] credentials
- All departments share the same address for their J drives, however only folders you can access are visible.

The Data Lab maintains three network drives, the H:, M: and S:, which contain data and information related to GIS. Users are automatically connected to these drives in the Data Labs. On Tufts computers outside of the Data Lab, users will need to manually connect to these drives using the instructions in the following sections.
- The H: drive is a user’s personal network drive with 10 GB of storage for students enrolled in a GIS course.
- H: Drive Path for Windows: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisusers$yourUTLN
- H: Drive Path for Mac: smb://rstore2.uit.tufts.edu/gisusers$/yourUTLN
- Note, for help with H drive mapping, see directions below.
- The M: drive contains large & frequently used GIS datasets organized by geographic location and source. This data is readonly.
- M: Drive Path for Windows: rstore1.uit.tufts.edutts_rsch_gis_dataset02$
- M: Drive path for Macs: smb://rstore1.uit.tufts.edu/tts_rsch_gis_dataset02$
- The S: drive contains information regarding classes, projects, and Data LabAdministration.
- S: Drive Path for Windows: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisprojects$
- S: drive Path for Macs: smb://rstore2.uit.tufts.edu/gisprojects$
To use the network drives in ArcMap, ArcCatalog or ArcGIS Pro, you must first map the network drives in Windows Files Folder. The following sections review the process from computers on the Medford, Boston or Grafton campuses, or from your home via the VPN.
1.) Depending on which version of Windows the computer is running, Map a Network Drive as follows:
Mac Network Drive Connection Failed
- Windows 10: Type “This PC” into the Search Bar → This PC → Click on Computer → Click Map Network Drive
- Windows 7: Go to Start → Computer → Map Network Drive tab
2.) In the Drive drop down, choose the drive letter that you want to map (H:, M:, or S:). In the Folder drop down, manually enter or copy and paste the pathway for that letter (see pathways below image). Check the box for “Reconnect at sign-in” to automatically have this drive mapped.
- For the M: drive enter: rstore1.uit.tufts.edutts_rsch_gis_dataset02$
- For the S: drive enter: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisprojects$
- For the H: drive enter: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisusers$yourUTLN(Example: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisusers$asmith01) – See special note about H drive for the Boston/Grafton Campus.
*H Drive users on the Boston or Grafton Campus: After pressing finish, users will be prompted to enter their username (UTLN) and password in a new pop up window. Users must include “Tufts” before their username. For instance username: TuftsAsmith01.
4.) Repeat these steps to continue adding more network drive connections.
To use the network drives in ArcMap on your personal computer from home, you must first run the VPN Client and then map a network drive.
1.) Download and Install the VPN Client. This only needs to be completed the first time you are using the VPN client. Follow these instructions to install the software: Installing the AnyConnect Desktop Application
2.) Connect to the VPN. Search for the program “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client”. Double click on the program to open it.
3.) Enter vpn.tufts.edu/duo in the VPN server field.
4.) Click Connect. An authentication window will appear. Enter your Tufts username (eg. jjumbo01) and password. In the field next to Duo Passcode or Authentication method, you have a few options:
- Type the word “push” – Duo will send you a push notification via the Duo mobile app on your smartphone.
- Type the word “phone” – Duo will call the phone number you have registered for verification.
- Enter Duo Passcode – Enter the six-digit passcode you are provided by the Duo mobile app on your smartphone.
5.) Depending on which authentication method you chose, there may be some next steps:
- If you entered “push“, you will receive a push notification on the Duo mobile app on your smartphone. Click Approve to complete the login process.
- If you entered “phone“, you will receive a phone call at the number you have registered with Duo. When prompted, press any key to verify your login.
- If you entered a six-digit Duo Passcode correctly, you should be connected to the VPN.
6.) Once the connection is complete the AnyConnect icon will appear on your status bar indicating you now have a secure link to the Tufts network with full access to all Tufts network resources.
7.) Map Network Drives. Once you are running the VPN client and in Windows OS, then you can map the Network Drives. Depending on which version of Windows the computer is running, Map a Network Drive as follows:
- Windows 10: Type “This PC” into the Search Bar → This PC → Click on Computer → Click Map Network Drive
- Windows 7: Go to Start → Computer → Map Network Drive tab
8.) In the Drive drop down, choose the drive letter that you want to map (H:, M:, or S:). In the Folder drop down, manually enter or copy and paste the pathway for that letter (see pathways below image). Check the box for “Reconnect at sign-in” to automatically have this drive mapped.
- For the M: drive enter: rstore1.uit.tufts.edutts_rsch_gis_dataset02$
- For the S: drive enter: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisprojects$
- For the H: drive enter: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisusers$yourUTLN(Example: rstore2.uit.tufts.edugisusers$asmith01) – See special note about H drive for users at home via the vpn below.
9.) For the H drive, follow these extra steps. Once you’ve put in the path with YOUR UTLN as shown, there is an extra step with credentials:
10.) After pressing finish, users will be prompted to enter their username (UTLN) and password in a new pop up window. Users must include “TUFTS” before their username. For instance: TUFTSAsmith01
